The current state of events has caused the outlook of life to be altered forever, changing the way we live and interact with one another. The worth of wants and luxury items have diminished as the value of health and hygiene has become of the utmost importance. This rapid change of needs has allowed for design to aid in the transition of a more health-conscious society. Although we can currently survive off of online shopping, the need for more convenient ways to maintain hygiene will rise as social restrictions begin to ease. My solution for this is to provide hygiene hubs throughout the city. The hubs will provide a non-contact sink and soap dispenser, which will be available to the public at no cost, allowing the user to experience the product.
Integrated within the hub will be a touchless vending machine, accessible via a mobile device through a QR code. Once scanned, the user will be directed to an application that includes features such as the option to choose to buy a soap from the variety of scents available, and additionally subscribing to a monthly delivery of the product. In addition, all the packaging of the product you receive, if you so wish to purchase one, will be recyclable and compostable, ensuring buyers that they are making a sustainable purchase. Another component of the application is a feature which shows a map that pinpoints the other hygiene hubs throughout the city, making it effortless for individuals to find the nearest hub if they feel like they need a hygiene boost. Although the current pandemic has caused the world to shift their needs to health and hygiene, I believe my solution will allow an immersive experience of the product while assisting with the current issue.
