Advances in building technology brought up unprecedented possibilities to shape our cities and buildings, so the new Notre Dame’s Cathedral roof could be in any shape wanted. However, what is important to highlight in this case, is how 800 years ago a 40 meters high cathedral was built. Then the challenge is to design a new roof that does not calls for attention with the cathedral itself, and if possible, that helps telling its history. This design proposal is to rebuilt the roof in the same shape that it was before but with different lighter color materials. Not to pretend that the fire did not happened but as a way to emphasize how it was structured before. To show people its history it could have pathways around and inside the roof giving people the possibility to experience gothic architecture in other perspectives.
