Upon viewing the structure from the outside you get the feeling of a heavy quietness, the building was designed using polished concrete to create a simple, neutral color palette. This was done to allow for light manipulation to create contrast and interest in shadows. The use of concrete echoes visual weight, I also designed the structure as an enclosed hallway to create the feeling of confinement, symbolizing the isolation we feel during this quarantine. The artwork is placed within the inner circle so families can gather, mourn and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. The middle of the structure has a place for names of people who died from COVID. The art I created was to show chaos by using concave and asymmetrical rectangular shapes.
