The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life at Flushing Meadows Park as it has for millions of others around the country and the world. With the restrictions of connections with the world, the virus has scattered us into our homes around the region and the country. Although we are now physically distant from one another, we remain united through our connection to the COVID Memorial in Flushing Meadows Park. To reconnect as a community, the memorial is a spherical representation of the Earth and how the connection is being brought in from all directions.

We are able to experience the COVID Memorial from any perspective and yet it is all united together as you step foot under the dome of the memorial. In the dome itself, there is a display of hundreds upon thousands of familiar faces who lost their lives due to the virus and will always be remembered by those who visit the memorial. As this pandemic continues to grow, new faces will be displayed in the dome as it is connected by a projector that goes through slideshows of people on a daily basis. This pandemic is rapidly changing by the second and more lives are being defeated by COVID-19. Their lives might be lost but their souls live on in the community of Flushing Meadows Park.
