The memorial is designed to be a tribute to the ones lost and an experiential space. The space is approached by a long straight path on the beach leading to the ocean. The path terminates at a space with high slanted concrete walls painted with murals of the pandemic. This space represents the difficulties and griefs suffered through the pandemic and the slanted walls are symbol of the metaphoric ruins of our society and cities during the pandemic.
A circular pit half covered on top with round opening and a reflecting pool that reflects the sky is symbol of hope. The black marble pillars are engraved with inspiring and hopeful quotes that also reflect in the pool. This space terminates in a semi-circle where a beam of light shines upon a concrete slab symbolizing the light of heaven and a tribute to the fallen soldiers.
On both sides of the circular space are high towers clad with weathered iron where every individual can share their griefs and sorrows. The overall space is placed on the beach as it is a common recreational space which was off limits during the pandemic signifies the importance of recreation and society as a whole.
