The memorial is located at the Ecological Park of León Guanajuato, Mexico. It is dedicated to the people who have been affected by the COVID-19 situation either by the loss of family members, acquaintances or friends or by having supported hospitals as part of the medical staff.
Grief is a process experienced by people that lose their beloved ones, that is why the design is based on it is five stages, denial, anger, negotiation, depression and acceptance.
This proyect is conceptualized through the bubble, emphasizing the state of psychological obstruction of a closed world where the trail is sluggish and lengthy that seems do not have end, this path represents the duel that each person manifests with his own interaction whith the place. The project starts with a height of 0 meters on land to a final underground of minus 2.5 meters on a route of circular ramps, with vertical elemente with the aim of commemorating the population that died from covid-19.
The location allows visitors not only to enjoy the natural environment but also to have access to the project, transmitting a mutual support to all those visitors who are going through or who passed the stage of mourning with the loss of a family member because of the COVID-19. That is why this Memorial wishes to impart a message of reflection to all visitors, showing the names of the deceased in the vertical elements that provide the intervention of people who are going through those difficult times.
The Memorial aims to leave an impact to society with a message of encouragement and reflection to the world, and this is where all those emotions and feelings focused on the memories will participate in the commemoration of the place, in solidarity with the situation and the community that has left this pandemic.
