The project is located at the heart of the Mexican Republic, La Plaza de la Constitución , known as “El Zócalo” of Mexico City. The memorial will be named “El coronavirus está siendo atendido” (The coronavirus is being attended) tittle that refers the words that the President of Mexico pronounced on March 22th try to not alarm the nation about the global pandemic.
The memorial pretends to be a space where people that have been suffering because of the pandemic.
You could feel identified and heard from the situation that they are living or they have lived as a consequence of lack of attention in the government and health system.
The concept is based on each people, children, teenagers, adults and seniors who have experienced some situation as consequence of COVID-19. The people are represented through the vertical structures represent all Mexican people who keep fighting against the global pandemic day by day, just as the health staff and the people who are living a confinement at their homes; the horizontal structures represent the compatriots, friends and family who suffered  and  perish from the pandemic those ones who shall he remember.
Walking through the project the people will experience a sense of apprehension because of the distance between the columns and the illusion that the height of them creates; also the memorial has a close relationship with the position of  the sun and the effects it has on all  its elements when the sun sets on the columns,  these will project shadows towards the East of the Zócalo pointing to the Palacio Nacional (National palace) symbolizing a protest feeling.
The project is ephemeral and thanks to the type of material that will be used, it could be recycled for future projects  the structures will have a scaffolding skeleton based on a PTR metallic structure and aluminum sheets coating in order to bring stability and security to the structure but also proved an aesthetic value through the reflective material.
The project was design as a place where the people who are not here anymore, could with remember. Also, it is a place to reflect about the situation but at the same time it draws attention to the authorities reminding them if the situation it had been addressed in another way is the country would not be facing of the current crisis.
The memorial was planned to create empathy, expression and meditation in the situation we are living.
