We have created a memorial to honor those who have lost their lives due to the Coronavirus in the state of California. Our inspiration came from wanting to create a structure filled with light. We chose to create a structure made out of recycled metal. It stands on top of a concrete slab foundation. Strings made from recycled plastic are attached to the ceiling. Tiles made from recycled reflective acrylic are attached to each string. Each tile has names of those who have passed due to the virus. During the day when sunlight hits each tile a rainbow effect will occur as the light passes through them. At night accent LED lighting will be arranged to highlight the tiles in place of the sunlight. This will create a structure that is both meaningful and uplifting to those who have lost loved ones during this pandemic.
